PostSubject: Disaster!   Mon Jul 09, 2007 1:07 pm

It was a total disaster. I decided I wanted to get some MAC makeup so I made an apointment with them! It was great I loved how she did the eyeshadow.

But the foundation powder stuff? She chose a color two shades darker then me. I could definately tell the difference between my neck and face. I was so embarrised. I had no clue what to say though. I figured she did it purposely or the lighting in there.

:/

I would have taken a picture but I had to run home and take off the foundation. >_<

but I bought the eyshadow and loving it. <3 <3

So if you go do makeup appointment, is there anythign I should say? Or How or I dunno!

Man, you'd think a makeup artist would know better, but anyway, I glad you got something you like. What color did you get?

i would have just said it looked bad

i was helping a friend shop for prom make-up and the guy did some really pretty eye-shadow on her
she's part egyptian so she has really deepset yet big and pronounced eyes and he just did some major "contouring"
she looked like a drag queen

i guess people don't realize that MAC artist aren't trained for everyday normal make-up...they are trained for TV, film, and photography...that is why MAC products are so thick and pigmented

i hate MAC foundation and powder and not from personal experience just from seeing people and talking to people

it's too thick, it looks greasy and cakey...eww

Meh, I had a drag queen do my makeup at MAC for job interviews.. and spent the 20 minutes before the first interview in the bathroom, scrubbing my face. The foundation was too dark, the blush was ORANGE, he lined my lips way outside the natural lines(and I have a nice mouth shape, so I was really sad about that..). The only thing I liked was the eyes, and even that I had to wash a lot off, because it was too massively done. I'd even said it was for an interview..

Point is, you get good artists and not so good artists. I never had a problem going back to that same store, long as I had someone else playing with my makeup.

i was saying he made my friend look like a drag queen

but yeah...sometimes you just get people that are a little too overzealous...does that sound redundant

Oh geez. I've always been afraid to have someone else do my makeup, because of situations like this.

I went to my neighbours formal with him and got my makeup done at some local place and omg...the foundation was WAY too dark, they didn't even put on concealer, the mascara was shit and spikey and the eyeshadow was WAY too high. Sigh. I practically hid the whole night.

Lolz, unfortunately people who work at MAC in America don't have to be a qualified 'make-up artist' at all. Apparently (clearly this is just being picked up from various makeup sites and forums) some of the casual staff have done like half a year of a part time class and can get jobs. It could just have been the MA you got.

The ones here need at least a year of a full-time makeup course, I think. I went in and the girl there matched my skin tone with three different kinds of foundation pretty well. That said, I have really dry skin, so anything 'oily' doesn't feel all gross and yucky to me.

Everytime I go to a MAC counter I always see at least one girl who just has makeup thrown on her face all sloppy and some times I'll see one not wearing any makeup, which would ok if they were working somewhere else. If they can't do their own makeup I definantly don't want them doing mine.

I was told by someone that the people that work at MAC have to have a art degree as well as technical training...
i dunno...seeing most of the people that work at my local MAC store I've never had the urge to have mine done

pinkhaired: I got three; Swimming, Paradisco, and Gleam.

She did my eyes beautifuly, if only the make up artist I had did my face well. I should grow my women balls and just speak up next time. >_< its her job anyways! I used to hate asking for help but then I realized, well I mean its their job! They should help you. Very Happy

>_<
