PostSubject: Oily Skin   Sat Aug 22, 2009 12:38 pm

So I have very oily skin, and I need a new foundation.:/

Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm using the MAC Studio Fix right now, and if I apply it in the morning, by the end of the school day (around 3:00) it's been mostly oiled off. Should I use a waterproof one?

I also want to buy a powder, but I'm broke. If you know of any not-so-expensive ones, that would be a blessing as well.

IDK YOU GUYS! PLEASE HELP.

Those with extremely oily skin usually need a primer, powder, and blotting sheets to help your foundation last longer. Cargo and Smashbox make great primers (I prefer Cargo's, though). As of powder, my favourite is MAC's MSFN. And Clean and Clear have blotting sheets (but you can always use plain old tissue paper).

Cheap foundations? Hm...you could try Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse. My buddy Danielle - who has oily skin, btw - swam with it on, and it didn't come off at all. She set it using Dream Matte Powder.

You'd also like Maybelline's new SuperStay foundation, which is similar to Revlon's ColourStay (which constantly gets compared to SFF).

Good luck!

I think I'll try the Smashbox primer, because I know they sell it at the pharmacy near my house. I've heard of blotting sheets before, and I have tissue paper here at home.

Do the sheets really make that much of a difference? I've never used them before, but if they actually work wonders, I'll invest in some.

The Maybelline and the Revlon foundations sound good; I'll check them out the next time I go out shopping. I've been hearing a lot of good things about the MAC MSFN, so I think I'll buy that.

THANK YOU SO MUCH PUFF! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

When you skin is shiny, blotting sheets will remove the oil causing the shine, but not your makeup. It's better to blot then touch up with powder instead of just powdering over the oil - which would look cakey.

Glad to help out! I used to have really oily skin so I feel your pain -_______-

I abosolutely LOVE my Dream Matte Mousse. I highly reccomend it. It definitely stays on all day and even when I swim sometimes, too, like Puff said. And I have relatively oily skin.

Also, my MSFN is... my love. I serisouly don't know what I'd do without it. That stuff gets me through the day, keeps my skin looking...as flawless as it could look... and GAH. Best spent $26 ever. I've already had to replace it twice! <33

So I think I'm definitely going to buy the MSFN, judging by how much you guys love it. TIME BREAK OPEN THE DUSTY WALLET.

Hmm. I think I'll get some blotting sheets when I can afford it. Does tissue paper work the same? 'Cause I have tons of that lying around.

Now I'm not so sure about the Dream Matte Mousse. Did you and Alicia get like TONS AND TONS of them? Or were they like big nasty blackheads? I can stand have a bunch of small ones, but not those big nasty ones. Neutral

I've tried using mineral ones, and halfway through they day they're gone. What kind do you use? Maybe it's different than the one I use.

I've actually used both. Neither work very well for me; my skin is REALLY oily. Thanks though!

Blotting sheets are uber cheap (around $5) but tissue paper works just the same!

Oh. Then I'll be going to the pharmacy VERY VERY soon. So I just carry them in my bag and when I need them I take em out and sponge away all the oil? OMG HOW SIMPLE.

Or maybe I'll do a test and use tissue paper. There's so much around my house because when we get gifts with tissue paper, my mom never throws the paper away.

I've been meaning to get a powder for FOREVER, but I'm going sometime this week, so worry not, I'll be all powdered up in a couple of days.

So what about the Dream Matte Mousse? Y/N on that front?

I don't know anyone who doesn't like the revlon colorstay foundation, so you can't go too far wrong with it!
Especially if you're going to be using a primer beforehand, and blotting through the day

hopefully you tanned a little bit over the summer because revlon generally doesn't go very light
but they do have one powder that was very pale,
i think it was like new complexion or something
