So, my dad gave me Kevyn Aucoin's Making Faces book, and $50 to spend at Sephora. I usually steer straight for the Make-up For Ever section, but maybe it's time for a little something new? What would you girls suggest for me? I think I want to steer away from something that's got too much glitter to it.. Maybe a foundation I should try, though I can never seem to find something that matches my shade..

Let's have your suggestions, then, and thanks for them!

Lisbeth, I remember you telling me how you needed a new foundation, and since its hard for you to find a good shade, I posted five things that may help you out a lot, so you can always choose the kind of finish you want, be it dewy and glowy, or matte and sophisticated. I added You Rebel Lite especially because its a new tinted moisturizer special for pale tones, and I have the DiorSkin Icone in Translucent, and when they say translucent, they mean it - it blends in really well!

I posted a lot of blushes, too: tints, stains, and powders [I had to add Thrrrob! in there], to also help you pick a finish for every day. I have many different foundations and blushers, and its fun to pick a new look each day!

Also, I added that red Dior gloss since you've shown something of an interest in red shades. Benefit may have some nice lip colours, too - you should try her Her Glossiness in Next Question, Please - its a nice reddish colour without being overbearing. Though you may find a shade you like just by strolling into Walgreens. A new trend lately is raspberry/deep pink tones, which may be worth looking into!

And I posted the Hope In A Jar just because that shit is rad.

Hope I helped! Very Happy

what about a prescriptives foundation?

they match your skin exactly and if your worried about say, redness they'll mix in a little green or if your skin is dry they'll put some moisturizers in it. you also get to choose the finish and they keep all the information on file so you can have it remixed exactly.

its expensive but that shit is worth it

haha, everyone I know that has it RAVES about it. apparently it makes applying makeup a lot easier, and evens out the skin amazingly.

and Ava, I don't think that Sephora has Prescriptives,
and she's on a $50 Sephora Gift Card budget.

sorry liz!

Once I was checking to see if Sunglass Hut had opened in my shopping
centre yet and on the online directory thingy it said we had a Sephora
confused2 But I go there at least twice a month and there's definitely no
Sephora! How odd..
Omg I just looked and there's one in Brent Cross shoping centre! I never go there though.. Sad

I was also going to recommend Dandelion, but if Powder Pop has Dandelion in it then get that! (It does right?)

that's so weird?! maybe there was one before sephora pulled outta the uk.

i wish they still had them here. i go crazy when we go to paris because it's usually only once a year and the store is so huge and there are so many counters... i'm drooling just thinking about it!

i'm going to barcelona in a couple of weeks so fingers crossed they'll have a massive one there! woop

ohhhhh... i just found a photo of (half of) the sephora in paris, champs élysées -

*dies*

sorry i'm getting so off topic but sephora and makeup shopping gets me excited!

It sucked, as I let you know. I got home, snapped a few pictures(which look normal, if a bit tan for me) and scrubbed the blasted stuff off.

grr. that stuff usually works well for normal skin types [horrid for oily types], so that really pisses me off. you may have to try true match next time, or trublend if they have the shade - or you'll have to go to sephora and get matched with the brand of your choice!

I don't have foundation or anything like that.
I'd love to try it,
but idk...
I have really nice skin already.(Not to toot my own horn)
but like, idk... It's pretty evenly toned,
and I don't have bad skin...
So I don't want to fuck up my face by covering it in some nasty stuff.

then dont! if you want to wear any kind of face makeup,
look at the benefit list I posted, and take note of the stuff with the asterisks by them. that gal is probably best to start out with. :]
