Well you should use liquid liner for wings. Liquid liner doesn't budge, and there's so much more precision than pencil. You were trying it using pencil right?

my hands are really shaky, though. maybe i should just give up.

side note : i find it kind of funny that i can't apply makeup to save my life but i paint and draw daily and those come out nicely! what's up with me?

I wouldn't quite say it's 'made for me', Nath, it took freaking ages to get the skin right... Usually I only devote about five minutes a day to foundation/concealer/powder, but jeebus, trying to get it all perfect for this look took ages. So much work Laughing

For the liner, Hana, I start as thin as possible, then keep smoothing over the uneven/bumpy bits until it's about as thick as that. Half the time it ends up too thick, so I have to wipe some of it off with a cotton bud and pat some more eyeshadow down where I smudged it off. To set it, use a translucent powder, and failing that some hairspray (but not too much!). I put heaps of concealer around my eyes because the skin is really dull and dark looking, and that helps it stay put, too. I should probably be using a base, but these things take monies that I don't have at the moment.

I don't know about you, but my flicky bits at the sides go all over the place- I try to just follow the natural line of my eye but it doesn't always work that way. When I first started trying it they went almost straight up!

Edit: I have shaky hands, too, I rest my pinky on my chin to try and steady it. I also stretch the sides of my eyes out to try and get it right. You shouldn't give up! Just gotta keep trying.

eyeshadow goes OVER it!?!?!??!?! i feel like i've been excluded from a secret...makeup-savvy club.

yeah, the ends usually look okay if they don't get smudged, its the part on the lid that sucks. it usually looks bumpy : (

I put eyeshadow on to cover up the bits I mucked up and had to wipe off so there's not a gaping hole where you can see naked eyelid.

As I said, I just keep going over and over everything 'til I get a smooth line- that's why I start off with the thinnest line possible, 'cause it's always bumpy at the start.

For a cheap base, just put white eyeliner/shade stick all over your lid. It should get tacky or sticky, which helps the color adhere and show up better. It helps with the creasing problem too. Some ladies even use a tad of vaseline as a base.

Thanks Jess Very Happy

To be honest, ninibaby, I've never really needed it. Concealer works really well for me- I don't get a lot of creasing and most of the eyeshadow I use manages to stay on all day. It's always teals that fade on me, I'll undoubtedly invest in real base at some point, but concealer seems to be doing the trick for now.

I have used creme based white eyeshadow, like a shadestick, before as a base and I didn't like the consistency of it. Never tried vaseline or chapstick (which I've heard works pretty well) before, but I may do at some stage, for kicks.

Eh I don't like using chapstick/vasaline for a base. I have really dry skin and even a tiny bit will crease like hell on me!

Im the same. vaseline does NOTHING for me. I used WnW creme shadow for a base, but I cant find it for hell on earth! its been gone for months now. oh, how my heart aches for it.

I use concealer or my NYX chunky pencils for shadow base.

I thought that might be the case. I have pretty dry skin at the best of times, and the creme eyeshadow I used didn't work that great- it sunk into the crease and was just too tacky.

I've never considered using vaseline as a base either, I go complete opposite and when I do foundation I just whizz a small amount over my eye lids, pat it with translucent powder and once I've done any other colours etc, I never get creases!

I've considered it, and if i was going out i probably would, but i tend to just use a tonne of foundation on my lids.

A lot of foundations aren't safe for the eye area if you have sensitive/dry skin. I found that out the hard way- L'Oreal True Match is a bastard around there. If you have a liquid concealer, that's usually a better way to go.

I've used vaseline only once, same with white eyeliner or whatever, but I always end up going back to my real base. XD
I use MAC's Paint Pot in Painterly. It works really well. I have oily skin, and even by the end of the day when I take it off there is still no annoying crease (I put it on at around 6:45 a.m. & take it off at 10:00 p.m.).

Urban Decay's Primer Potion works wonders for me. I crease insanely and it does the trick. I might want to get MAC's Paint Pot since I heard great news about them.

Well, if you have UDPP then Paint Pot probably won't compare. UDPP is the best fucking eyeshadow base out there, innit?

Now that I've tried both, I think UDPP is ok, but I deffinantly prefer the paint pot!

I have shadestick(knockoffs) eg. Covergirl Eyeslicks and some no name brand and I use them OVER my base (Fyrinnae Silken eye shadow base) if i want something to really stay. But i don't do it every day coz I'm worried it'll tug at my skin.
