PostSubject: Halloween Burlesque   Fri Sep 28, 2007 1:48 pm

Need your help girlies!
I'm going to a burlesque show on the 20th October and the theme is Schlock Horror.
The whole audience dresses up burlesque style and it's all very fun..but I need some help with costume ideas. I could just go in my corset and create some sort of sexy/scary outfit but I kind of want to play with the theme more.

The flyer says "Strict dress code. Cast off your inhibitions. Glam fetish, dandy, vintage, lingerie, evening wear, Dita Von Teese. Visit Hellfire or Saratoga Trunk. Or be inspired by the theme: Boris Karloff, Vincent Price and other horror icons from the silent era to today; scream queens, silver screen, Ed Wood, vampires, Bride of Frankenstein, horror b-movies, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, Vampira, Addams Family, freaks, Rocky Horror, Wasp Woman, Cat People, Dorian Gray, bunny boilers, Torture Garden, villains, femme fatales, Carry on Screaming, Pandora’s Box, Halloween characters, Jami Deadly, widow chic et cetera."

Any ideas? I would be terribly grateful *nods*

I love you

Hot pants
a corset
or a fishnet top with electrical tape over the nipples
thigh-high stockings
garter belt
stripper heels
or boots. The higher the better
Tease your hair
Outrageous fake eyelashes
drag quen makeup

See I can do burlesque, half my wardrobe is the items on clothing you described..and Dita is my absolute idol..

But I was more looking for ideas of characters I could be that relate to the theme..then I'll adapt the costume to look more burlesque..

PostSubject: Re: Halloween Burlesque   Sat Sep 29, 2007 10:55 am

maybe you could go as an obvious burlesquer who is dead and zombie it up a bit?

or one of those classic bride of frankenstien types with the white shock of hair?

but instead of the robe wear like a corset and stuff?

ooh-er, this came up when I googled "Elvira Mistress of the Dark"

Vampira would be you know like Vampire style.

she seems quite...saucy Razz

Rocky Horror...you could easily do Magenta and make her a bit more burlesque.

Hmmm what about like a Jekyll and Hyde type thing? Might be quite hard to do though but having a good and evil side might be fun.

I looked up Jami Deadly from that list too and had a look. She does burlesque type stuff and presents some horror type show...but hse has some pics that might inspire...

hope that helps!

I don't think I could look like Columbia if I tried..besides, I've done the Rocky Horror thing too many times (huge fan, I'll take any oppurtunity to dress up..)

I might go as Tim Burtons Corpse Bride. Not exactly old school horror style but it could be fun.. I'll make it slightly more slutty of course tongue

what d'you think?

Ooh oooh you're going to Club Noir right? I realllly want to go again this year!
*takes sneaky notes for a costume idea*
Have you been before? There's always a few people with absolutely amazing ideas, I'll see if I can remember any from last year for inspiration. Although if you went then that won't do any goooood. Sorry to be all unhelpful, just got excited, haha.

Also Kiki, your googling rules. (hahaha the vampire boobies.)

I was looking at the Pole Candy ones.
They start this Thursday, 7-8 pm
But it's £55 for 4 weeks..
which sounds a hell of alot, but I've been wanting to go for ages, and all the classes I've found are around that price or more..

thats the website: http://www.polecandy.co.uk/
