| its mostly for when your skin tone changes with each season. I wear medium deep, and right now I'm the darkest shade, which is five. but in winter, I'd be about a 3. and for an all around concealer, I use shades 1 or 2. so I get a use out of every shade. unless your skintone changes with each season - which it does for everyone, to some extent - you probably don't need it. if its that much bother, just try their other foundations they have with a lone shade.
