| from the internets!
| Quote: | Hair
Rain + Sun + No Washing + Living in a hot tent with no hairdryer / straighteners = SCARY HAIRY LADY!
You will need: A hairbrush, leave in conditioner, head scarf, hat, hair powder (yes, hair powder.)
1) Wash your hair at the last possible minute before you go thus maximising good-hair time.
2) Bring a quality brush and try to remember to brush your hair before you pass out every night. A Mason Pearson brush is an investment, and particularly good on festy hair as it redistributes oil every time you use it.
3) If it's sunny, wash hair in cold water on the second day, apply leave-in conditioner, and leave to dry naturally. If it's cold, don't risk hypothermia, use hair powder to suck up the grease (Bumble & Bumble's come in 4 shades.) Talcum powder is a budget alternative for blondes.
4) And, if the situation gets completely out of control, whack on a brightly coloured headscarf a la Nicole, or hide under a hat.
Skin
Keeping up a good cleansing routine is the secret to perfect festival skin.
You will need: Sunscreen, wipes, facial blotters, water, a large mirror and waterproof mascara.
1) Wear high factor sunscreen and don't forget to reapply, even if you have overdone it on the pear cider. Stay out of the sun at the hottest part of the day and NEVER EVER let yourself fall asleep in the sun. You will fall asleep a beautiful sleepy festival princess and awake as an angry lobster.
2) Drink lots of water, it keeps your skin looking plump and will save you from the hangover pixies.
3) Use waterproof mascara because it will rain at some point, and the "punched in the face" look isn't a big one right now.
4) Bring the biggest mirror you can carry. It might sound high maintainance, but you can't pull off that "effortless" make-up look without it.
5) Keep shine at bay with facial blotters. Try T-Zone No Shine papers or if you're feeling flush Shisedo Pureness have anti-oxidant properties to smooth and condition skin.
6) Skin wipes are the saviours of festivals. If you can possibly remove your makeup before bed, do it! You'll wake up looking fresher and it'll keep your pores clog free thus preventing spots.
Clothes
Unlike Kate and co. you won't be travelling to the event in a private helicopter, so pack light.
You will need:
1) A fab, traffic stopping dress for the evenings. Believe us, you will wear it!
2) Lots of layers for taking off and putting back on again when the weather is being mental.
3) A huge boyfriend-type parka jacket for the chilly nights and a waterproof for when the heavens open.
4) Flip flops: They take up no space and, hey, it might be really hot...
5) Wellies, but take a tip from la Moss and ditch the girly floral ones in favour of classic black, way less try-hard and probably a lot more waterproof!
6) A massive pair of sunglasses to disguise the fact that you got no sleep last night, or the night before, or... |
also, i just googled "festival hair" and i think they were doing something to the forum, as it was down, but a post of festival hair discussion/pics was on the download festival forum so id look for that later. _________________
