stupid question alert!

i got my nose pierced today.
they told me to salt rinse it of course.
the sheet they gave me said "for convenience" you can buy saline solution.

im going away in a few weeks so of course i wouldnt want to use the water there to rinse it and just for ease, i went into the chemist to buy plasters to wear while i sleep and asked for some saline.

i just want to check...i got given saline contact lense solution...this is the same and ok to use yes?

im a dumbass but dont want to put anything on my piercing that i shouldnt.

uumm, thats what i used for the majority of my piercings
but thats only because i was lazy et stupid & did them myself

SOOO i would say its ok to use

but others might have a better answer

but i just wanted to check yknow?

and the bottle says you can use it ON your eye, so i think that means itd be ok.

im not sure entirely, but i DO know that there's this awesomestuff called H2Ocean which is totally king for piercings. we can't get it here but you might have access to it?

if i go to the mall today i can ask the piercery lady for you Smile

i dont think we can get access to it here...just from my first google.

and they probably would have had it in the piercers i think.

you could probably filter the water where you're going, too
and also you ahve to boil it anyway Razz

yeh we wont really be able to boil it. theres nothing like that in the room and i wont be able to do it first/last thing and after being out all day.

i could use bottled water to rinse it off but i think saline or something should be ok.

Here's a recipe of the stuff you use for Saline Nose Irrigation:

* ½ to 1 teaspoon non-iodized salt (such as pickling or canning salt)
* Pinch of baking soda (to prevent burning – can increase the amount as needed)
* 1 cup of warm water (filtered or previously boiled water)

I presume if you can stick it up your nose, you can put it on a piercing. You can also buy it premade at some drugstores, or health stores.

See, I wasn't told just 'saline,' I was told specifically 'wound care saline.' I ended up getting some chincy little first aid anti-bacterial foam, since I couldn't find the saline, but maybe that helps, too?

Contact solution is just saline water so its absolutely fine =)
It's what I use when I'm feeling lazy...
You can also buy special saline solutions in bottles in piercing studios, but its the exact same just a bit more expensive.

If you're going somewhere where the water is a bit funky mind salt soak it after a shower or going swimming..I screwed alot of my piercings up in Turkey cause of the funny water and sweating too much =(

aw hey gill! i was hoping youd be around Razz

yeh im going to spain so im all set for cleaning it after showers and swimming too. i dont swim much to be honest but will at some point. ill probably also put a plaster over it while i swim and try not to swim under a lot.
my mum was like "yeh, you'll look cool" but i was like "stuff it, i care about my piercing more!"
