PostSubject: piercing removal   Wed Oct 03, 2007 10:49 pm

i took my lip piercings out ages ago and that was fine.
i took it out a few hours before i went to bed (thought it was best rather than when id be outside and stuff) and it closed up by morning but i figure thats because its pretty squishy and easy.

but im thinking about taking my scaffold out. its just...im not attached to it, can easily live without it. i dont really like it much since its still been scabby and sore. its not infected, im just sick of it hurting when i sleep on it or whatever.
so what should i do with it? any advice? just take it out and leave it?
a certain time i should do it? like when i did my lip before bed.
should i just clean it and take it out and maybe clean it later if ive been out...or should i try and cover it or something?

any tips would be cool.

im thinking if im not at sam's tomorrow night, i could take it out once im at home and "in for the night" and then im off college on friday so i wont be out until later on so it will have a good while.

I won't be much of a help I think ... but when I had my nose piercing, they told me to pass by them if it was a first time I removed it ...

I know it's not the same ... but I'm just telling them what they told me ...

But, if you're like me, and don't listen to their advice, I would take it out carefully and clean it up, and don't touch it ...

yeh thats probably what id do.
just clean it up, take it out, clean it up again and probably keep my hair tied back out of the way.

its just a bit wierd because my lip was smooshy and so closed quickly whereas my ear will probably still just sit there for a day or so right? because its harder and not fatty.

Yeah, I think so too!

It surprised me how fast my nose closed up ... 2 hours after I took it out!!!

But I don't think that will happen so soon now ... You could still go and ask at a piercingshop.

But if you take care of it, everything will go smoothly I believe

With cartiledge, it takes a LOOOONG time to heal (up to a year, at least) with a piercing in it. Take it out, and it'll close up quickly (but will likely leave a scar or bump). Just take the jewelry out, clean it really well, and leave it. Clean it once in the morning, and once at night until it's healed up.

You're supposed to really clean it till its healed..but meh, I wouldn't bother. With my snug and rook when i retired them, i just took the jewellery out and cleaned the hole morning and night for a few days until it closed over. They took a few months for heal completely and then another few months for the scars to fade though.

yeh ill probably clean it til its closed over then just keep an eye on it and i mean, i clean my ears regularly anyway so its not like i'd be leaving it to get skanky so it'd still be clean.
im more a lil bit worried about getting shampoo and stuff in it...i suppose so long as im careful for a while when im washing my hair then give it a quick clean afterwards it'll be cool.

i wouldn't be much help because i'm keeping my industrial.

but with my tonuge webbing, which is completely diffrent, it closed up after an hour, and i just stayed off the sour/spicy food for a few days. you won't have to worry about that at all, though. Razz

it took my cartilage less than a day to close up, and this was about four months i think after i had gotten it pierced. Smile

yey took it out. feels goooood.

thing has fucked up my ear though. there's like a wierd bit on one side of one of the holes like skins has grown into a sort of bump on the upper side where the bar was.
hopefully it wont look wierd when it heals...im really upset by how messed up my ear is now. the bar looks tiny now i see it...really doesnt look like it should have been in my ear at all. maybe thats just me but yeh...

oh i checked mine out with lots of contortionism and mirrors and a torch and idk if anyone remembers i posted about a bump on the top of one of my holes? and gill said to put like tea tree on it and it would help shrink it? well i did that and it has helped a bit (only done it a couple of times so far) but thats the same as these.

so im hoping it'll be okay!
